"In a fundraising speech Wednesday, President Trump admitted once and for all that he just makes stuff up. The man who has racked up more than 2,000 false and misleading claims as president said he insisted to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that United States runs a trade deficit with Canada — despite having “no idea” whether that was the case. (Surprise! It's not.)
“I said, ‘Wrong, Justin, you do.’ I didn’t even know,” Trump said. “I had no idea. I just said, ‘You’re wrong.’ You know why? Because we’re so stupid.”
None of this is hugely surprising. Trump utters way too many falsehoods for it to be a coincidence. And we've seen over and over again — particularly most recently in meetings with lawmakers about guns and immigration — that Trump simply doesn't do his homework beforehand. He generally doesn't seem to have even a cursory understanding of what Congress is up to or about the underlying policies.
But the fact that Trump would make up this particular fact is especially remarkable and ominous."
I am not surprised and do not think this is any more ominous than any oher lie. Lies are the foundation of an autocrat.

I understand the point, but feel like it doesn't matter if he studied it or not. The real issue is that Tweety will lie to get what he wants, and call it "truthful hyperbole." Tweety will lie about his wife and daughter and his hands and penis, yet he knows those things well too.

What this kind of lie does in a negotiations, however, is prove to the other side that Tweety is not dealing from a full deck of cards. They will have to double check and triple check every minute detail, every number, every "t," every "I," every "fact," EVERYTHING, or Tweety will steal your kids!
Not doing every aspect of due diligence in a deal with Tweety is a failure to communicate, a failure to understand the animal they ae negotiating with. Otherwise it they other side loses in the deal, IT IS ON THEM They should be aware Tweety and his negotiators will lie your pants off!
Tweety has fun making deals that hurt the other side! It gives Twety joy to get away with more than was fair or honest.
