The failure of reason in the TN legislature.

A resolution, not a law, stating law enforcement should go after hate groups just as ardently as they go after terrorists could not be passed because it was not specific enough?  A clear definition seems like a good idea until you think deeper about why we need a more specific definition in a resolution.  This is PURE TRIBALISM.

TN can't commit against hate, but the RNC can?

"RNC approves anti-KKK resolution — after White House signoff"

Members said it was important to formally condemn hate groups, but some privately scoffed that Republicans felt it was even necessary.

"NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Republican National Committee on Friday unanimously approved a resolution condemning Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan, a move that comes just two weeks after President Donald Trump was widely criticized for going easy on white supremacist groups involved in the Charlottesville, Virginia, protests."

We all know enough about hate groups to seek justice for the people they prey upon.  PERIOD.  The RNC did the right thing to send a message against hate groups.  Why can't the TN legislature?  Do they support hate groups, protect them, join them?

"Tennessee legislature kills resolution condemning neo-Nazis as terrorists"

"A Tennessee state House committee on Wednesday refused to vote on a resolution to denounce neo-Nazism, white nationalism and the alt-right as terrorist organizations.

State Rep. John Ray Clemmons (D) sponsored the resolution which went beyond condemning the movement, without naming specific groups, using "terrorism" language. It also called on law enforcement to pursue the "criminal elements" within them “with the same fervor used to protect the United States from other manifestations of terrorism.""

More.

""The resolution also points to the alt-right as a reinvention of white nationalism, adding that “their present-day rhetoric and terrorism conjure painful memories of our nation's past.”

“White nationalism and neo-Nazism are continuing to grow as menaces to societal order that seek to reignite social animosities, reverse improvements in race relations, divide the nation, and foment hatred, classism, anti-Semitism, and ethnic eradication,” the resolution reads.

The proposal comes after multiple white nationalist gatherings in Tennessee in recent weeks, including a “White Lives Matter” rally and a gathering of white nationalist group Identity Evropa, according to the Tennessean.""

OK, perhaps changing words would be helpful.  It would be easy to work out better words.  But I am certain tribalism was more at work here than politicians seeking "clarity" for anyone's protection.
