"Washington at war: Dems aim for speedy impeachment push as Trump threatens whistleblower"

Analysis by Stephen Collinson, CNN  Updated September 30, 2019

"Trump meanwhile escalated his attacks on the whistleblower -- demanding to meet his "accuser" face to face during a day of rage-filled tweets about the Democratic attempt to impeach him. The President's anger spilled over during a day of rage-filled tweets Sunday in which he selectively quoted a supporter who said he was afraid of a "Civil War-like fracture" in the country if Trump is forced from office.

The extraordinary spectacle of the President -- the titular head of the US legal system -- threatening a potential witness in a case against him risks being seen as an attempt to obstruct the investigation. It also cuts against the principle that whistleblowers deserve anonymity and protection, representing another dark twist in an administration that has constantly tested the boundaries of political propriety."

"Trump says those who gave info to the whistleblower are like spies, reports say"
"The spies and treason, we used to handle it a little differently than we do now," the president said, according to the LA Times.

"Trump, according to multiple media outlets, told a private group at a midtown hotel Thursday morning that the people who gave information to the whistleblower were "close to a spy," and said the U.S. should "handle" them like it did "in the old days" — a veiled reference to execution."

IT'S ON VIDEO!  IT IS NOT A RUMOR!

The Whistleblower Act is a law created to allow people to help us avoid corruption in our government, and we do not disclose their identity until the proof comes forward to make it a court case!

The law is the law!  Why is the GOP endorsing lawless Trump?

"Pelosi fiercely defends impeachment inquiry as Trump blows up"
The president lashed out at Democrats for investigating his efforts to pressure Ukraine."

"Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff on Wednesday fiercely pushed back on President Donald Trump’s attacks on House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, as Trump profanely lashed out at the pair in the middle of their joint news conference.

Despite Democrats’ insistence that Trump would be treated fairly and that the fast-moving investigation would not interfere with bipartisan legislative priorities, Trump accused them on Twitter of “wasting everyone’s time and energy on BULLSHIT.” He called Schiff a “lowlife” and said Pelosi was “incapable” of working with him on other issues including prescription drug costs and a new trade agreement

Pelosi, meanwhile, sought to play the stateswoman, promising to “be fair” to the president as Democrats investigate Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which is the central focus of the impeachment inquiry.

During that call, Trump pressured Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a potential rival in the 2020 campaign. Around the same time, Trump was withholding nearly $400 million of military assistance to Ukraine.

“We are proceeding deliberately, but at the same time we feel a real sense of urgency here that this work needs to get done and it needs to get done in a responsible period of time,” Schiff (D-Calif.) said. “We’re not fooling around here though. We don’t want this to drag on for months and months and months, which appears to be the administration’s strategy.”"

President Donald Trump refuses to obey or understand the law as he continues to threaten the whistleblower.  Trump's megalomania is rampant now.  The initiation of impeachment has opened the floodgates of his corruption.  Trump's tweets prove his guilt beyond any reasonable doubt and the GOP is adding and abetting a criminal mafia-like boss.

"“This is a very serious challenge that the president has put there. It’s very sad — I don’t see impeachment as a unifying thing for our country,” Pelosi told reporters Wednesday. “I weighed those equities hard and long until I had the president’s admission that he did what he did.”

Trump was unmoved, continuing his scorched-earth Twitter tirade offline during an Oval Office appearance with the president of Finland on Wednesday afternoon and attacking the still-unidentified person who filed an official complaint to the intelligence community’s inspector general.

“[The whistleblower] wrote a vicious conversation. In other words, he either got it totally wrong, made it up, or the person giving the information to the whistleblower was dishonest,” Trump said. “And this country has to find out who that person was. Because that person is a spy, in my opinion.”

The only "spy" in this scenario is Donald Trump in the sense he is destroying the USA democracy!

Is President Trump willing to take America into a civil war?  He is a megalomaniac who cares only for himself, so the answer is "Yes!  Absolutely!"

Look at this definition:

"megalomania
noun meg·a·lo·ma·nia | \ ËŒme-gÉ™-lō-ˈmā-nÄ“-É™ , -nyÉ™\
Definition of megalomania
1 : a mania (see mania sense 2a) for great or grandiose performance an outburst of wildly extravagant commercial megalomania— The Times Literary Supplement (London)

"For more than ten years, Government Accountability Project led a bipartisan coalition of over 400 organizations and companies in a campaign to restore whistleblower rights for federal government employees and contractors. On November 27, 2012, Government Accountability Project’s tireless work paid off and the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act (WPEA) was signed into law with unanimous bipartisan support. With the passage of the WPEA, millions of federal workers were given the rights they needed to report government corruption and wrongdoing safely."

Ukraine, impeachment . . . non-compliance with "shall: requirement to take allegations to Congress . . . White House chose to bury the whistleblower allegations that Trump asked a foreign government to find dirt on Biden.

Why did Trump hide the whistleblower allegation?

What does Trump fear?

It looks like the "White House" and Trump felt they did something illicit or they would not have hidden the whistleblower compliant.

My message to friends who support Trump:

"Hi Friend,

I see President Trump is threatening the whistleblower, literally, with death as a "spy."  I heard, and saw President Trump say he asked the Ukraine President to get dirt on his political rival and enemy, Joe Biden.  I heard President Trump dramatically sell his story, like he sold Trump University, characterizing his beautiful "Tony Soprano" phone call, maybe also a letter of some sort, as he calls it, telling the Ukraine President he would like a "favor."

How in the name of your supposed intelligence can you accept ANY of this crap, and all Trump's many, many, many lies?  Your analytical mind is failing you if you still support Trump.

Is the money Trump puts in your pocket worth more than the future of our democracy?  Is the money Trump puts in your pocket worth ignoring climate change, and ignoring domestic terror in favor of those over seas (more killings domestically than from terrorists anywhere else in the world) and ignoring America's infrastructure and now working to solve immigration in the right way?

President Trump is insane, and getting more dangerous for America daily.

Think about your support for Trump.  It is foolhardy at best.

Regards,

Frank

"House Democrats accelerate impeachment inquiry"

Democrats are issuing new subpoenas and some lawmakers are planning to return to Washington despite a scheduled congressional recess.

"Support for Trump impeachment rises 12 points in new poll"

https://thehill.com/hilltv/rising/463408-support-for-impeachment-rises-12-points-in-new-poll

"A new Hill-HarrisX survey on Friday found support for impeachment proceedings against President Trump has risen 12 points compared to a similar poll conducted three months ago.

The survey was conducted on Sept. 26-27, just days after House Democrats started a formal impeachment inquiry over a whistleblower complaint involving Trump’s communications with Ukraine.

The poll showed 47 percent of respondents support that decision, up 12 points from a similar survey in June, which asked whether Democrats should begin impeachment proceedings.

Meanwhile, opposition to impeachment dipped 3 points to 42 percent, while 11 percent of those polled in the new survey said they weren't sure or didn't know."

"Ukraine envoy resigns amid scandal consuming Trump’s presidency"
Kurt Volker was a well-regarded diplomat trying to solve one of the world’s hottest conflicts. Then he met with Rudy Giuliani.

By NAHAL TOOSI09/27/2019 06:25 PM EDT   Updated: 09/27/2019 08:04 PM EDT

https://www.politico.com/news/2019/09/27/trump-ukraine-kurt-volker-rudy-giuliani-007212

"Shortly after being named the U.S. special representative for Ukraine negotiations in mid-2017, Kurt Volker attended an invitation-only strategy session at the Atlantic Council with a small group of foreign-policy hands.

There, he encouraged the people gathered at the downtown D.C. think tank to publicly praise President Donald Trump for his handling of Russia and Ukraine. It might have been in jest, but Volker’s point was obvious: Flattering Trump might lead him to “do the right thing” and act in the U.S. interest, as one attendee put it.

Two years later, Volker has resigned the envoy role after becoming ensnared the Ukraine-related scandal that is consuming Trump’s presidency and fueling an impeachment drive by House Democrats. It’s an ominous turn for the widely respected diplomat, who joined the Trump team even as dozens of veterans of past Republican administrations shunned the new president.

The envoy's resignation came as three House committees slapped Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with a subpoena, demanding information on the controversy and scheduling depositions for five State Department officials, including Volker."
