The Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution addresses many aspects of citizenship and the rights of citizens. The most commonly used -- and frequently litigated -- phrase in the amendment is "equal protection of the laws", which figures prominently in a wide variety of landmark cases, including Brown v. Board of Education (racial discrimination), Roe v. Wade (reproductive rights), Bush v. Gore (election recounts), Reed v. Reed (gender discrimination), and University of California v. Bakke (racial quotas in education).
For Ted Cruz and Hawley, among many other GOP rabble rousing fools, the Amendment 14, section 3 of the United States Constitution allows a gournds to expel them from Congress:
"Section 3.
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."
Ted Cruz says Barack Obama, Bill Clinton Jimmy Carter could be impeached if Trump is tried after leaving office

What crime will you invent Mr Cruz. and will there be any evidence? You don't need evidence, I understand, but the American people need evidence, like all the video and confessions of Trump inciting insurrection on the Capital 6 Jan 2012.
Ted continues to spout BS against our elected President to curry favor with Trump GOP cult-followers, and seems to be succeeding, sadly. All these people hate America, and love power only.
GOP members who aided and abetted, organized, planned, some even helped execute the coup (Greene?), are ashamed, and they are bad Americans.
EXPEL TED CRUZ AND HIS COMPLICIT MEMBERS FROM CONGRESS FOR TREASON.
White Supremacy by a brown man? Ted Cruz!
All The Senators Calling For Cruz And Hawley To Resign Or Be Expelled
Andrew Solender Forbes Staff
"A growing number of Democratic senators are calling on Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) to resign – or be expelled – for leading the charge to object to Biden electors even after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in an effort to overturn the election."
Should Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley Be Expelled From the Senate for 'Insurrection'?
That punishment for reinforcing the delusions that drove the Capitol riot is highly unlikely, and it would set a troubling precedent.
JACOB SULLUM | 1.22.2021 2:00 PM
"During a recent interview about the fallout from the Capitol riot on Firing Line with Margaret Hoover, Sen. Joe Manchin (D–W. Va.) brought up Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which bars senators and representatives from serving in Congress if they "have engaged in insurrection or rebellion." Based on that provision, Hoover asked, would Manchin support the "removal" of Sens. Ted Cruz (R–Texas) and Josh Hawley (R–Mo.), who pressed their objections to President Joe Biden's electoral votes even after that cause had led to a violent invasion of their own workplace?
Given that Manchin is widely considered the most conservative Democrat in the Senate and has expressed concern about the divisiveness of rushing to impeach and try former President Donald Trump for his role in the riot, his response was striking. "That should be a consideration," he said. "Ted's a very bright young individual, and I get along fine with Ted. But what he did was totally outside of the realm of our responsibilities or our privileges that we have." Other senators, including Sheldon Whitehouse (D–R.I.) and Sherrod Brown (D–Ohio), have said Cruz and Hawley should be expelled if they refuse to resign."
