We will see in November if Tweety Trump's communications hurts or helps him in November 2020.
Here's my take.
Tweety Trump is unable to put together complete, coherent sentences. Often his logic is ridiculous, and it doesn't help when he swears at people and calls them nasty names. It doesn't help his cause when he says everything and everyone that critiques him are traitors, enemies, criminals, should be locked up, and these kinds of useless, meaningless expressions. Bullying means one thing, not strength, rather self-doubt, and that hurts his communications, weakens his ability to unify the country.
A President of the United States #1 trait has to be the ability to communicate, to be understood, and to be persuasive. A President needs to be able to get the most out of Americans in terms of productivity and unity. Americans need to pull together, not fight each other. A divided America is not a great America.
People will say Tweety has lots of followers, so he must be communicating well. I disagree. It's less Tweety's messaging, less his communications, than the fact people mostly follow Tweety because they think he can put money in their pockets. Hurting immigrants might be a few followers idea of a good policy, and some buy into Tweety's fear mongering, but most know Tweety's policies domestically and diplomatically are not good for the country.
Americans know Congress is not doing their job because they fight too much, which leads to lots of Executive Orders. I have no problem with Tweety using EOs. Obama had to do the same thing for the same reason, a dysfunctional Congress.
Tweety's nastiness and bellicosity hurt his communications too. After 44 years in management, writing contracts for DoD weapon systems and training people, inspection operations, I KNOW RUDENESS LEADS TO INEFFICIENT AND INEFFECTIVE PEOPLE.
Sure bullying, rudeness, and shouting can serve for a short term, but over the long run they cause confusion and chaos, and cost time and treasure. This method of Tweety's probably were a factor in his five (5) bankruptcies.
I recognize there might be a good purpose, and maybe some real sensible logic, a reasoning of sorts in some of what Tweety is saying. Tweety is not putting together words to explain his decisions and actions that meets the "smell test" for reasonableness. Tweety's miscommunications happen way too often, and lead to continuous "redo" of his explanations, new versions, and sometimes silly stuff.
An example of silly stuff is when Tweety's third, fourth, or umpteenth explanation of his impeachable (he was impeached, trial to follow in the Senate) abuse of power call. Tweety says "us" meant "US" in the transcript of his shake-down call to the with Ukraine President on funding for self-defense weapons. The problem is rolling out MULTIPLE stories of the call!
Tweety may have a point to convey, and he may have done the right thing, but we'll never know it by the way he communicates it. Tweety is very weak conveying his thoughts, his rationale.
MAYBE TWEETY JUMBLES EVERYTHING HE SAYS ON PURPSOE SO HE CAN CHANGE THE STORY TO FIT A NARRATIVE THAT EVENTUALLY MAKES HIM LOOK GOOD? If Tweety is playing with us, it's a mistake to do so.
The way Tweety explains the Iran drone kill is an example of his worst communications. Pompeo doesn't help, he is bad too.
Tweety told Fox News US embassies were targets, at least 4. There is not proof, no facts, no way to know what Tweety is talking about unless some other source can help him with better messaging. The Secretary of Defense, Esper, tried to help, saying embassies are a symbol of America, so obvious targets of our enemies. The way Esper explains the threat to embassies makes sense, Tweety does not give an explanation.
Tweety makes pronouncements, and although he tells us he will lie, and he has lied over 5,000 times so far (Jan 2020), he expects Americans and Congress to say, "OK, that's good." Intelligent Americans dare not, will not capitulate to bad communications.
Perhaps Tweety was briefed, but we know he doesn't listen well in briefings, or take advice from briefings, on targeted embassies. If Esper doesn't know, then Tweety was not briefed, he is just guessing. That's not a bad thing, just say so.
Say "I think" or "I guess embassies are being targeted," It makes sense they could be targeted if someone, probably everyone in the Middle East, hates the US enough. No one knows if 1, 2, 3, or 4 were on the general's list, or if the general had a list. Maybe he did, so say "Maybe."
It could be Tweety was just giving Fox his gut feel for the likelihood of targeting embassies, but he didn't say it was his intuition, his gut. Tweety said he knows the embassies were targeted, when there is no proof they were targeted so he looks like a fool or a liar by his messaging.
I say again, it's OK if Tweety is talking from his sense of the circumstances, but he lies so much even then it would undermine his story.
