In September 2011, Flynn was promoted to Lieutenant General and assigned as assistant director of national intelligence in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. On April 17, 2012, President Barack Obama nominated Flynn to be the 18th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.[27][28] Flynn took command of the DIA in July 2012.[29] He simultaneously became commander of the Joint Functional Component Command for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, and chair of the Military Intelligence Board.
In October 2012, Flynn announced plans to release his paper "VISION2020: Accelerating Change Through Integration", a look at changes he believes are necessary for the DIA in the future.[30][31]
In June 2013, Michael Flynn became the first U.S. officer to be allowed inside the Russian military intelligence (GRU) headquarters in Moscow, where he arrived at the invitation of the GRU chief Gen Igor Sergun.[32][33] His follow-up trip to visit the GRU HQ as Director of DIA was not allowed.[33]"

Fox News got it wrong! Fox people said Flynn is a victim, got trapped, tricked, fooled. None of what Fox said turned out to be true.
Fox News joins the Trump Administration saying the FBI is committing treason to hurt America and the President. Do the people of Fox really believe the FBI is trying to hurt America?
The judge said today that Flynn committed a SERIOUS crime, so Fox got that fact wrong. The judge said Flynn sold out his country.
Flynn's hubris was and is disgusting! Flynn sought to bring a foreign influence into the White House!
A general does not become a general, especially as Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, without knowing CLEARLY that lying to the FBI gets you trouble, in spades!

All the fools saying Flynn was tricked by the FBI are being disingenuous, or they do not know the military training Flynn undoubtedly received [I also received in my 22 years of Air Force duty.], they do not appreciate the experience of a military general, and they do not understand or respect the FBI. Possibly they can be STUPID.
PS, for talking heads on Fox News, the judge thinks Flynn committed a serious crime, not a "little" crime. I know Flynn is white and a retired general so you want ot give him a pass you would never give a black man or a Muslim, but come on man, IT IS A CRIME!
