Fox and Tucker Carlson have a lock on "truth" and "morality?" Come on man!
It is not about free speech when advertisers choose to support, or NOT support a TV program. Take note of this FACT as you read Tucker Carlson try to bring up free speech when advertisers do not like or agree with what he calls "truth" and they withdraw their support.
Tucker thinks he is immune from criticism for his hateful remarks, unsubstantiated charges, and false equivalencies, to name just a few of his undesirable comments. Fox appears ready to support Tucker's BS no matter what. Tucker is not immune, however, from advertisers withdrawing their support. It's their money Tucker, and their judgement as to whether they want your message to affect their product sales.
ADVERTISERS DO NOT GIVE FOX MONEY TO SUPPORT, OR SHUTTER TUCKER'S FREE SPEECH! THEY ADVERTISE TO SELL PRODUCTS, PERIOD.
"Tucker Carlson in October: ‘I have complete editorial freedom and the support of the company"
By Erik Wemple December 19 at 3:11 PM
"In October, Tucker Carlson boasted [Such arrogance often foretells a downfall!] about how he could say anything he wants to say on his prime-time Fox News program: “I have complete editorial freedom and the support of the company. So, like, when I’ve been criticized, they’ve been like, ‘We support him.’ I can’t think of a clearer sign of support than that,” said Carlson in a National Review podcast hosted by Jamie Weinstein.
Prescient remarks: On Dec. 13, Carlson said on his program that immigration makes the United States “dirtier,” not to mention more poor and more divided. The next day, Pacific Life announced it would reevaluate its advertisements on the program, and at least 15 other companies — including TD Ameritrade, job site Indeed, Voya Financial and Jaguar Land Rover — have taken similar actions.
Fox News’s response? We support him."
OK, if Fox supports Tucker Carlson's arrogance, hateful remarks, and stupid assertions about immigrants, people who are dirty or people who are poor, that does not mean everyone has to or will support Tucker.
"As advertisers bolt from Carlson’s show, there’s a debate out there regarding whether these campaigns are good things or bad things. Let the opinions flow, though we’d like to add one point: When the record is as long as it is for someone like Carlson, these campaigns, good or bad, are inevitable. As Carlson and Hannity attest, laissez-faire editorial policies have their charms — as well as their perils: If ownership won’t police the hateful content, someone else will."
Claiming you speak the truth does not make it truth. Claiming to be moral does not make you moral.
Tucker will not be the last to fail, and I predict he will be removed from his perch for his arrogant stupidity.
Tucker Carlson and Fox say they convey truth and morality.
My version of "truth" comes from an old saying, What Would Jesus Do? Tucker's opinion about dirty people is not surprising as he sits in his clean, tidy suit facing a TV camera in a nice clean, warm studio.
All poor people are dirty in fact, Tucker, right?
Tucker has a dirty soul despite his clean outward appearance.
All poor people make America poorer, right Tucker?
Tucker is poor in character, and internal ugliness that exceeds every measure.
Tucker makes a claim to "morality" I do no recognize or accept. Tucker cannot prove immigrants make America poor, dirty, or immoral, but I believe HE is an ugly, nasty bully using his Fox platform to spew crap.
Tucker is willfully hurting immigrants as a single group of "bad people."
Tucker Carlson is promoting & nurturing the culture war in America WHEN IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO DO SO!
What benefit will come of his nasty comments? Will Congress pass new laws? Not likely.
Will the Border Patrol stop separating parents and children, killing 7 year old girls?
Tucker Carlson wakes every day in a nice bed with perfect sheets, in a million dollar home or apartment, so he's rich and clean. He showers every day in his pristine bathroom, so he is rich and clean.
Does being rich and clean make Tucker Carlson the sole keeper of "truth" or morality? Is Tucker good person because he is rich and clean and psuedo-moral?
Nope! Tucker is being mean and nasty in his words and deeds.
Tucker goes downstairs in his multi-level apartment, to a great meal with coffee. He goes to work in a limo. Then the best idea he can come up with is to say LOOK!, immigrant PEOPLE, people, other humans, are poor, and dirty because I am better than them!
Wow! What a way to show you have NO idea how others live! If Turcker thinks poor and dirty people are bad people, then all the homeless in America should be rounded up and put in jail!
Dems do not want a border? Dems like illegal immigrants? This stuff is just stupid! This stuff helps no one!
What makes Tucker Carlson think? Not much because I am not certain he thinks at all. Tucker wants us to look at the garbage resulting from the immigrant caravan to conclude all immigrants are dirty? Why does he bother adding "poor" since that is an obvious characteristic. This is idiotic!
"Tucker Carlson said immigrants make the U.S. ‘poorer and dirtier.’ Four companies pulled ads in response."
By Deanna Paul and Alex Horton December 18, 2018 at 8:09 AM
"“Our leaders demand that you shut up and accept this,” he said, as he name-checking Reps. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) and ran footage of trash along the border purportedly from migrant caravans. “We have a moral obligation to admit the world’s poor, they tell us, even if it makes our own country poorer and dirtier and more divided." [No, Tucker, words like yours are what help the culture war, not immigrants entering the country.]
Tucker says something dumb, seemingly as dumb as saying immigrants are poor, about immigration being a form of atonement that makes no sense so I left it out.
"The segment ended with an advertisement for insurance company Pacific Life. The Fortune 500 company said in a statement Friday that it “strongly” disagreed with Carlson’s immigration comments and said it would reevaluate its relationship with the program amid the fallout.
Carlson bled three more advertisers in the coming days as he doubled down on his show Monday evening.
“The left would very much like you to stop talking and thinking about bad decisions they’ve made over the years that they happen to be profiting from,” he said. “'Shut up,' they’re screaming [No, Tucker, that is your colleague Laura Ingraham saying "shut up and sing" or "shut up and dribble" or "shut up whatever." Laura is the one against free speech as she thinks being an athlete removes your right to speak freely! That is Fox News stifling free speech, not your advertisers who pay your salary so they can sell products.], including to this show. Obviously, we won’t, and you shouldn’t either.”
Carlson was clear. There would be no apology from him.
“We’re not intimidated. [Fine, neither are the advertisers who pay your salary!] We plan to say what’s true until the last day,” he said.
Tucker defends his right to Free Speech, of course, but companies have a right to free speech to, Tucker, including NOT supporting your views by taking their money elsewhere! BOTTOM LINE IS TUCKER IS CONFUISED - FREE SPEECH AND PAID ADVERTISING ARE NOT THE SAME.
"He also took to Twitter, writing Monday: “We spend a lot of time talking about the threat to free speech. It’s not an academic question. If they can force you to shut up, they will. Here’s their latest attempt.”"
