Sweden gives Texas advice about how to restart their frozen wind turbines.  They did not have to freeze if prepared to run in colder weather.

Responsible Texas government takes NO responsibility for weather disaster!

Texas government officials deflect, call Fox News Tucker Carlson, lie, blame the Green New Deal, blame the Democrats, gaslight, and tell Texans to fend for themselves as the Feb 2021 weather disaster kills people and leave millions without power in freezing weather!

Opinion: Texas shows that when you cannot govern, you lie. A lot.

"Incompetence is not the purview of one party. But when you view politics as theater and grievance-mongering, chances are you are going to shortchange governance. Elect a president with no public-sector experience, no interest in learning, no desire to hire competent people and no ability to accept responsibility, and you get something like the covid-19 debacle. Moreover, if your party is hostile to government and exercising regulatory power because it is beholden to a donor class and right-wing ideologues, you will not be prepared for disasters when they strike.

And that brings us to Texas. The Post reports, “As millions of people across Texas struggled to stay warm Tuesday amid massive cold-weather power outages, Gov. Greg Abbott (R) directed his ire at one particular failure in the state’s independent energy grid: frozen wind turbines.” There is one problem: That is not remotely true (as you might have guessed from a state with an enormous oil and gas sector). “The governor’s arguments were contradicted by his own energy department, which outlined how most of Texas’s energy losses came from failures to winterize the power-generating systems, including fossil fuel pipelines.”

In other words, rotten policy and management are to blame. “What has sent Texas reeling is not an engineering problem, nor is it the frozen wind turbines blamed by prominent Republicans,” The Post reports. “It is a financial structure for power generation that offers no incentives to power plant operators to prepare for winter. In the name of deregulation and free markets, critics say, Texas has created an electric grid that puts an emphasis on cheap prices over reliable service.”"

Fox News turns Winter Storm Uri into a cudgel to own the libs
“It seems pretty clear that a reckless reliance on windmills is the cause of this disaster” in Texas, Tucker Carlson lied.

Read how Republicans and Fox News deflect focus on the incompetence of Texas government onto the Democrats.  It is really funny, and really stupid.  To paraphrase the responsible Texas governor statements on Fox News, "I take no responsibility at all."

"As nearly 3 million Texans languished without electricity Wednesday afternoon amid the ongoing fallout from Winter Storm Uri, Republicans and Fox News have teamed up to turn the disaster into a culture-war wedge issue.

As Vox’s Umair Irfan explained, the blackouts happened when the winter storm created a sudden spike in energy demand and hamstrung production of natural gas, coal, nuclear, and wind energy. The root problems (climate change aside) involve the state’s failure to winterize energy facilities and infrastructure in a region not accustomed to sustained freezing weather.

It’s a somewhat complicated story — unless you get your information from Fox News. Since Monday, various Fox News hosts, including Tucker Carlson and Harris Faulkner, have pushed the narrative that the power outages in Texas are actually the result of Green New Deal-style energy policies that aren’t even in place there.

“It seems pretty clear that a reckless reliance on windmills is the cause of this disaster,” Carlson claimed Monday, establishing a talking point that Fox News continued to hammer into the brains of viewers across numerous shows on Tuesday, with Carlson returning to the theme that evening."

Tucker Carlson
stated on February 16, 2021 in a TV segment:
“Unbeknownst to most people, the Green New Deal came to Texas; the power grid in the state became totally reliant on windmills.”

[Ya, even Texas didn't know the Green New Deal had snuck into Texas until the NONWINTERIZED windmills froze!]

It was a PANTS ON FIRE! lie for Tucker, nothing new.  Here are the FACTs, and, therefore, the truth.

Tucker Carlson, under the guise of "Opinion" LIES!

"More than 4 million Texans were forced to bear single-digit temperatures without heat or power this week when a polar vortex crippled the state’s energy system.

On Feb. 16, Fox News host Tucker Carlson placed the blame for the outage on renewable energy, paying particular attention to frozen windmills.

"Unbeknownst to most people, the Green New Deal came to Texas, the power grid in the state became totally reliant on windmills. Then it got cold and the windmills broke, because that’s what happens in the Green New Deal," said Carlson during his self-titled primetime show.

The Green New Deal is a proposed House resolution that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., introduced in 2019. Broadly, the bill seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address problems like economic inequality and racial injustice. However, the bill didn’t pass the House; if it did, it would have been a non-binding resolution without the power of law.

PolitiFact reached out to several experts with knowledge of the Texas energy system. All of them strongly pushed back on Carlson’s assertions that renewable energy played a central role in the outage.

"The claim is devoid of facts and removed from reality," said Samuel Newell, an electricity expert at the Brattle Group, which has run detailed analyses of the Texas power grid.

Fox News didn’t respond to a request for comment.

Wind power only a small part of Texas’s energy supply
Nearly half of the state’s wind turbine capacity went offline during the cold weather because the turbines weren’t built to operate in freezing temperatures like those in other states. But Texas’ largest source of electric power, gas-fired plants, also cratered in the extreme cold, along with coal-fired plants. Everything from frozen gas supply lines to frozen control instruments pushed down generating capacity. "

Sweden gives Texas advice about how to restart their frozen wind turbines: Scandinavian experts suggest adding a layer of carbon fiber to wings which can be heated to melt ice

Scandinavians use wind turbines in very cold climates.  Texas did not prepare for very cold weather, period.

The problem in the Texas weather disaster is the governor is weak, took NO RESPONSIBILITY, and decided to politicize the weather disaster.  Tucker Carlson helped and all together these fools demonstrated COMPLETE IGNORANCE of wind generators for the sake of bad publicity.

Sweden and other counties in cold climates use wind turbines fine, but Texas did not expect or prepare for weather 30 degrees colder than ever.  The Texas Governor should have kept his mouth shut and set out to six the problem.

Tucker Carlson was being his usual lying idiotic, snarky self, so we should ignore him.

The swaggering, Texas brand of free-market governance that’s central to the state’s political identity is taking a beating.

It's incredible these Texas government "leaders" go to was to lie and make excuses as people died from their mistakes!

It is too bad Texans who voted fr these people will vote for them again as they forget this fiasco, and as the voters believe their lies and are caught up in the gaslighting.
