USA NOT Christian nation. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you; Beatitudes misleading. It's FAKE! Unrealistic too!
What makes "Christians" fake their "Christianity?"
Look thru the Bible and find the verses "Christians" (the one's with no soul ala Mike Pence) try to hide. It's called "Cherry Picking."
People need to stop disliking or fearing or hating others, different peoples, because they do not understand them, agree with what they do, or the color of their skin? It's work to understand people, do the work!
People abuse too many people, refuse to try to empathize or understand their lives - who's on the list of their "bad people?"
- Gays, why do they do it, I don't do it, and why do they tell us they are gay?
- People of all colors are too different; only white people are "normal." Nike has an ad with a Black Lives Matter symbol, football player Colin Kaepernik, and the mayor of a town says it's a political message so his recreation department cannot buy any Nike products. Many sports ads promote ideals so why pick out the Nike ad? Because Trump made Black Lives Matter political, not the football players.
- porn stars and sex workers - they are "immoral," but of course non-porn, non-sex-worker people get to define morality, and the definition shifts depending on the circumstances and the people doing the "thing."
- atheists, agnostics, non-believers, non-religious because they are not of "our" religion, which is the only religion.
"Matthew 5-7 New International Version (NIV) Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount
5 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.
The Beatitudes
He said:
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
The Beatitudes have a bad vibe in that they invite the weak and the poor to take abuse meekly, and await their reward in heaven, rather than demand a caring society while living on Earth. That's hypocritical, deceitful, mean, and dangerous.
Of all the things I learned in my 71 years, the ideal statement for life on earth is to do unto others as you would have them do to you.
I think the Beatitudes serve for all people to be good and kind to each other, and to be "socialist" and, if necessary, take care of your neighbor's needs when they need it, and your neighbor will do the same for you.
