Organized religion drives me crazy, ESPECIALLY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH! A lot of the "bigs" are nuts and selective in their "morality."
Organized religion gives many people a way of coping with reality. I call that "spirituality," a kind of moral courage inside the hearts and minds of those true believers, and I hope for those who need to believe in "God" feel safe and good with their belief.
Personally, I know there is no God. If he or she existed they would not allow such heinous things to happen on Earth. Also, almost all the leaders in religion use their religion to oppress people one way or another. In fact, some people use their Bible to hurt and discriminate against the weak.
There is no God. If there is a God, he/she is absent from this world. Religion is a magic used by powerful and not so powerful, rich and not so rich, to keep the poor from rebelling on this earth.
"The Vatican knew of a cover-up involving abusive priests, Pennsylvania AG says"

And Tweety supporting Evangelicals may not be as sexy as priests, but they are just as hypocritical and immoral, maybe worse in ways.
"How many norms can Trump and evangelical leaders break in one meeting?"
by Jennifer Rubin Opinion writer August 29, 2018 at 11:30 AM
"First, the president is conducting an explicitly campaign-related meeting in the White House. He simply doesn’t understand that it’s not his house; it’s the American people’s. Second, once more he is hinting at, if not holding the threat of, violence over the heads of Americans. Pitting one group of Americans against another by suggesting one side will commit violence is the stuff of tinpot dictatorships. Third — and this concerns the evangelicals far more than it does Trump — the degree to which these religious leaders throw themselves at Trump’s feet, ignoring all manner of immoral and un-Christian conduct for the sake of political power, is bracing and has hurt both religion and politics."
But of course "norms" are not morals, right?
"Pope Francis facing calls to resign; sexual abuse scandal exposes rifts in the Vatican"
by Elizabeth Llorente 28 Aug 2018
"The Catholic Church is reeling after a grand jury report in Pennsylvania found that possibly more than 1,000 children in six dioceses had been sexually abused by about 300 priests or higher ranking officials.
On top of that, the report said that bishops and other top church officials had tried to contain the public outcry and liability by covering up the crimes, which Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro claimed “went all the way to the Vatican.”"
And how is the Pope going to solve the problem?
"“What is most important about the Pope’s speech is what he did not say. He did not say that he will change church law so that any priest who has sexually abused a child will be permanently removed from ministry,” Isely said. “He did not say that any bishop who has been proven to have covered up sex crimes will be removed from office. Until he at least says and does that, nothing else he says and does will be effective in ending the crisis.”"
The Pope is still using the blame game to bash priests who are trying to obey the Church rules against sex, demanding they avoid sex until their balls burst!
Once again, the Catholic Church runs from the fact of a normal human need for sex!
